I enjoy Simon’s YouTube content usually but this show tries too hard to be wacky when gravitas is more appropriate.
Silly cut scenes from movies grate, as does Simon’s voice at times.
It’s a shame as the show is thoroughly researched
The host doesn’t have the stomach or spine needed for a true crime podcast/show. He’s made it clear the only reason he does this is for the money which is why he bends to youtube’s censorship, effecting his podcast listeners.
The amount of time his writers spend researching and writing the episodes just for the host to skip major sections because he’s uncomfortable with the material. He needs to give his writers and the victims of the atrocities the respect they deserve. The amount of focus on t... more
It’s fun to listen to and great for my time when I’m working. The one thing that kills it is having to listen to Simon mocking religion. You can make fun of ghosts and stuff with low risk but mocking people’s faith is always a bad decision and it gets old really quickly. That’s the only reason it doesn’t get five stars. That’s so annoying I had to take three stars off.
Simon’s storytelling is absolutely brilliant—informative, darkly funny, and engaging from start to finish. He manages to cover heavy cases with a perfect balance of research and levity. Easily one of the best true crime podcasts out there—I never miss an episode!
I listen to this podcast while studying, cleaning and eating (along with other things I can't remember right now). I love falling asleep to this podcast as well. Simon, you're so funny. I found this podcast after wanting to listen to the H.H. Holmes case and ever since then, I've been addicted. I love this podcast and I hope other's can too. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
