Ew it’s super yucky you had him on
I’ve been bingeing this for weeks! So grateful for your voices and the space you are holding for ~maligned~ women.
My favorite podcast. I’ve listened to each episode at least four times, going back to the luminary days. These hot hoes are brilliant, as are the complex women the study. I hope for new episodes in the future!
Love that such a curious and compassionate lens is used to approach these complex stories but I didn’t get that from the recent Amy Winehouse eps. Felt it was more told from the outside in which didn’t leave as much room for the listener to feel her pain when discussing her lived experiences. Otherwise, usually enjoy how well they capture the multifaceted nature of the subjects. This made me wonder why she got a different treatment?
Dunham and Bennett do the hard work of going down the rabbit hole and excavating the truth, so we can sit back and enjoy the ride. As someone who can never tell you “that actress’s name in that one movie”, this show is teaching me so much — while keeping me chuckling when I probably should be crying.

A historically rooted conversation focused on women whose public personas were shaped by sensationalism, scandal, or social stigma. Across episodes, two hosts dissect how cultural narratives, media coverage, and gender norms influenced the rise and public reception of remarkable figures—from early Hollywood to fashion and music icons—while weaving in broader themes of empowerment, exploitation, and the politics of fame. The format blends rigorous archival context with sharp humor and candid commentary, aiming to challenge simply labeling a woman as “crazy” and to reveal the humanity behind the headlines. Noteworthy is the show's commitment to nuanced storytelling, feminist critique, and a willingness to tackle difficult subjects with both w... more
