This is a podcast with short episodes for people who feel vaguely insane watching the news but still believe moral seriousness is possible. Each episode runs 10-20 minutes. I usually start with something human: a stray thought, a joke that maybe goes too far, a glimpse of my interior life. Then I pivot, as cleanly as I can, into a morally serious argument about power, politics, institutions, or wh... more

The AI Problem
Two topics have something important in common: they both defy easy analysis because they refuse to stay inside a single discipline. One is artificial intelligence. The other is the question of what has been flying in our skies for the... more
As I listened to Pam Bondi’s testimony, I felt a physical dread I have rarely known. A cold thing low in the gut like a stone falling through water. I searched my memory for its equal and found it: it was the moment the second plane hit the tower. Wh... more

In the past 30 days since I started doing these podcasts, over a thousand people a day are have been downloading them, but of course not subscribing. I’m not too worried about that. But I’m going to keep going.

A note from management, to beloved listeners: at several points throughout this audio essay written for A.G. Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times, I mistakenly say “A.J.” instead of “A.G.”. I’m really sorry about that. It was done in one t... more

We talk about autism as if it were a single thing, when it’s really an argument between biology, identity, suffering, and love, carried out inside real lives. People are always trying to define it, but it resists definition in the way lived things of... more
This short podcast is a smart, easy listen that packs a lot into a small amount of time. Each episode moves quickly and covers a variety of topics, which keeps things fresh and engaging without ever feeling rushed. Greg does a great job of breaking down ideas in a clear, conversational way, making even unfamiliar subjects accessible and interesting.
What really stands out is the range—one episode might spark curiosity, another might offer a practical takeaway, and another just gives you somethi... more
I really appreciate the short format on days when life is too hectic to sit down and read. It still feels like I’m engaging in a thoughtful, intellectual conversation even while brushing my hair and hustling my kids out the door. I also love Greg’s wit and sense of humor, especially when tackling tough topics.
You can tell that Greg speaks about the things he cares and is interested in. He doesnt shy away from debate and is genuinely interested in opening his aperture on a topic - even if that means changing a preconceived notion.
Broken but Readable podcasts by Greg are great. Greg’s voice, both literal & intellectual offers a rare , refreshing combination of humor , honesty and depth.
Greg doesn’t preach but rather opens the listener to an alternative way of thinking about a variety of subjects- thought provoking for sure. I learn something new listening to each & every podcast.
Love that the episodes are short, sweet, and to the point without taking away from the content
Really like Greg’s POV. And it’s a fun calming listening experience.
Love Greg’s outlook. It is nice to hear a balanced, yet nuanced view of current events
Required listening for those just starting to dip their toes into the deep end!
I’ve been following (and enjoying) Greg’s Substack for awhile, so it’s a nice change of pace to be able to access his content in a different medium. I love these shorter, digestible episodes, they allow room for rumination but the language still feels poetic to my ears - a lovely combination and approach.
The breadth of topics covered is impressive, the quality of the writing is top notch, and the short length is perfect for commutes and “respectful of the listener’s time” as he says. This is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Greg always has an interesting perspective and expresses his thoughts intelligently and incisively, with empathy and humor.
This has been a breath of fresh air for me. Genuinely thought provoking and not aligned to any particular group/tribe/party. Extremely authentic and much needed voice. Keep it up!
Greg is a powerful writer who poses questions that make you stop and think. He does allow the reader to draw his own conclusions.
I've been reading Greg on Substack and now listening to his mini podcasts since their inception .I look forward to doing so with my first cup of coffee each morning. Greg writes with clarity, honesty ,and perhaps unexpected ,vulnerability . I especially like his recent podcasts that unravel debatable topics that let the listeners appreciate solid facts; not media screen shots. Well done Greg!
This podcast feels like listening to someone think in real time, and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s not overproduced, not overly polished, and not pretending to have neat answers. It’s honest, reflective, and surprisingly engaging.
One moment that really stuck with me was Greg talking about trying to “find a voice” and being told he should sound more like David Brooks, only to push back against that idea entirely. That tension between wanting to be taken seriously and refusing to sa... more
Greg’s podcast is a fantastic edition to the cocktail of podcasts I drink. He’s unfiltered, earnest and highly thoughtful. But most importantly, he’s an original thinker that adds spice to my listening slate.
