  • Love the show. Please fix the audio!

Amazing insight from two legends. The show audio is quiet. Sponsorship adds come through at regular volume but the show itself I have to max out my speakers.

Tom Verducci is one of my favorite baseball writers… I’ve read everything he’s written through the years… for these two to pair up and do this podcast is fantastic! Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Book of Joe: Tigers Troubles, Ohtani Plan, and 2nd Place in History!
Q: What makes Shohei Ohtani different this year as a pitcher?
They emphasize his improved command and control on the edges of the plate, which lets all his other pitches play up and keeps hitters off balance, making him effectively the best version of himself on the mound.
The Book of Joe: Angels goals, Top hits survey, and another rule change?
Q: With the new base-coach rule changes underway, how do you see teams adapting their signaling and coaching strategies to stay competitive without crossing into unsafe territory?
Teams will need to keep signals in the box, rely on camera-based oversight only when necessary, and emphasize clear on-field communication and practice disguising signals in legal ways while avoiding dangerous or deceptive tactics that could compromise safety or fairness.
The Book of Joe: Angels goals, Top hits survey, and another rule change?
Q: You noticed, that Bill Mazeroski, the Hall of Fame second baseman, hit probably the most famous home run in baseball history. What is your take on the top clutch hits of all time and how is that measured?
The top clutch hits are defined not just by a moment, but by their impact on victory probability; in practice, game seven moments like Mazeroski's homer, Rajai Davis's run-scoring plays, and Will Smith's game-ending homer are evaluated through a combination of historical memory and statistical measures to illustrate which plays swung championships.
The Book of Joe: Ken Lazarus, CEO of Infinite Sky AI
Q: What do you do with a guy like that?
Focus on his command metrics and analyze specific situations in which he struggles to tailor his approach toward improvement.
The Book of Joe: Ken Lazarus, CEO of Infinite Sky AI
Q: Could you talk about that a little bit? Because to me, that might be the most important thing.
Lazarus explains how their tracking system can help understand command performance and identify potential injuries early by analyzing pitching mechanics.
