  • No different from Fox News

If you’re going to look at Fox News and write it off because ‘it’s so blatantly partisan’ or ‘it’s nothing but a propaganda channel’, can you really come back and listen to this? This is identity politics for the left - it’s not a news source. If you have a differing opinion, you’re not welcome. I personally despise Fox News, and this has similar vibes that there’s one opinion, and that is the only opinion.

  • Conscientious Jouranlism

“All the news, to keep you rooted.” Erica Cruz Guevara and company offer great local, Bay Area journalism. From the North Bay to the South, from the Town to the City, I hear stories that are trending like Oakland’s homeless or the recent South Bay ballot measure for a no-caste vote. But more often I hear journalism from the fringe, like environmental impacts at Richmond’s refinery, or LGBTQ+ issues. The journalism is imbued with local analysis from both sides of the fence, and eye toward equity ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

These Protesters Could Go to Prison for Blocking the Golden Gate Bridge
Q: What are the potential implications of this trial if the protesters are found guilty?
Activists and lawyers argue the case could chill future protests by signaling that similar disruptive acts may be met with harsh felony charges, potentially deterring civil dissent while proponents argue it's a necessary enforcement of public safety.
These Protesters Could Go to Prison for Blocking the Golden Gate Bridge
Q: Walk me through the defense argument here, Juan Carlos.
The defense says the defendants engaged in earnest attempts to influence government policy through letters, permitted sit-ins, and peaceful protest, hoping to achieve change, and that the charges are disproportionate given civil disobedience traditions.
Benicia Wants to Be a Model for Life After an Oil Refinery. Can It?
Q: What does a just transition mean for Benicia and how is it defined here?
A just transition means a city moving away from fossil fuels in a way that improves public health and living standards, while maintaining a sustainable and diversified economy through reinvestment in clean energy and related industries.
PG&E Bills Are Going Up. Here’s Why
Q: Is there any way to lower my bill or make it easier to understand?
Yes, there are tips like using off-peak hours for laundry and seeking CARE discounts; advocates also suggest simplifying the bill front end to help consumers understand and take action.
PG&E Bills Are Going Up. Here’s Why
Q: What is MCE electric generation, and why are I paying both MCE and PG&E?
Generation costs come from producing energy and customers may be enrolled in a community choice aggregator like MCE, but PG&E still owns the poles and wires, so you're paying both their delivery charges and the generation costs from the aggregator.
