  • No different from Fox News

If you’re going to look at Fox News and write it off because ‘it’s so blatantly partisan’ or ‘it’s nothing but a propaganda channel’, can you really come back and listen to this? This is identity politics for the left - it’s not a news source. If you have a differing opinion, you’re not welcome. I personally despise Fox News, and this has similar vibes that there’s one opinion, and that is the only opinion.

  • Conscientious Jouranlism

“All the news, to keep you rooted.” Erica Cruz Guevara and company offer great local, Bay Area journalism. From the North Bay to the South, from the Town to the City, I hear stories that are trending like Oakland’s homeless or the recent South Bay ballot measure for a no-caste vote. But more often I hear journalism from the fringe, like environmental impacts at Richmond’s refinery, or LGBTQ+ issues. The journalism is imbued with local analysis from both sides of the fence, and eye toward equity ... more

One Way to Keep Teachers in the Bay? House Them
Q: So in other words, even if you're building housing for teachers, you're still building housing in California, which will always take a long time.
The discussion emphasizes that funding, permitting, and scale are the main challenges; districts see some success in smaller implementations like Jefferson Union but acknowledge California's broader regulatory and financing hurdles will slow wide replication.
The Rise and Fall of Eric Swalwell
Q: What was his platform?
Marisa Lagos notes that Swalwell's platform centered on affordability and housing, but she emphasizes that the campaign lacked concrete details on major proposals, leaving questions about policy contours.
An East San José Teacher Reckons With Cesar Chavez’s Legacy
Q: Before the news, how were you teaching the history of Cesar Chavez in East San Jose?
The host asks about how Chavez was taught, and the guest describes curricular approaches—analyzing chants, materials, and community artifacts to connect history to students' lives.
Why California Has the Nation’s Most Expensive Gas
Q: Why is California more expensive for gas compared to the rest of the country?
Because of a combination of higher taxes, environmental/climate programs (cap and trade, LCFS), refinery limitations, and importing a large share of fuels, all compounded by a relatively isolated market and occasional refinery closures.
Foster City Cyberattack, Jury Finds Meta and Google Negligent, and Can SF’s Small Clubs Survive?
Q: What story did you bring today?
Alan explains the two intertwined stories: Foster City's ransomware attack and the California trial holding Meta and Google accountable for mental health impacts, plus the SF venue outlook, linking them to broader accountability and local culture.
