  • Wasted opportunities

Could be so much better if the inane banter was cut down to a bearable level.

  • Essential listening for all things Bangkok and Thailand

The Bangkok Podcast has been essential listening for my obsession with this amazing city.

Greg and Ed make it look easy as they share insight from their own experiences, as well the many high quality guests. I have learned so much about Bangkok, as well as the Thai psyche.

Anyone going to Thailand who doesn’t listen to this professionally put together show will simply have a lesser experience.

It’s easy and fun to listen to and very informative.

  • Mai Pen Rai episode disappointing

I enjoy your podcast overall, but I thought the latest episode about Mai Pen Rai was rather inappropriate so soon after the bus tragedy. The episode includes wild speculation without having enough facts. You probably had this episode planned before the bus tragedy, but you should have rescheduled it and waited.

Foreign Fool: A Conversation with Author Alan Platt [S8.E45] (Classic ReCast)
Q: What makes your stories stand out from typical travel writing?
He argues that he was already a writer and aimed to elevate travel anecdotes with literary quality, using humor and self-deprecation to avoid the cliché “expat paradise” trope, and to emphasize readable, entertaining, and well-described passages.
Foreign Fool: A Conversation with Author Alan Platt [S8.E45] (Classic ReCast)
Q: How did you get the idea for the book?
Alan explains that the book began as a collection of funny travel stories, but he found that framing the anecdotes around moments when things went wrong and presenting himself as the butt of the joke created a more engaging, well-written narrative with lyrical passages.
New Frontiers: A (Literal) Conversation With Ed's AI Assistant About Podcasting [S8.E36]
Q: From the transcript, who was the co-host for the first season of the Bangkok Podcast?
The co-host for the first season was Tony.

Q: What's the process for the Royal Society in Thailand to address new words that everyone's using?
There are different committees for subfields that get words onto their agenda and work on coining terms, producing lists of subject-specific dictionaries that the government uses legally in official works.
Linguist Rikker Dockum on the Royal Institute's Thai Language Oversight [S8.E33] (Classic ReCast)
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about that? What is the Thai Institute, the Royal Thai Institute?
The Royal Institute has been around in various forms since the 20s, and has a mandate to guide, influence, and dictate where and how Thai language evolves, overseeing academic expertise for the government of Thailand.
