  • Fantastic podcast! (Though issues with sound quality)

This podcast is delightful! I love hearing about little behind the scenes things of the show. And I’ve truly learned a lot from listening to Jane and Howard.

I do wonder if Jane can sort out her mic as sometimes she’s at an equal volume with Howard and sometimes she’s very quiet and it’s hard to hear her.

Both of them are fabulous and I look forward to listening every week.

  • Getting stale?

I've enjoyed this podcast for many years and have listened to every episode some more than once. Today's review of the new class of 2025 was the first time I had to turn it off because it was so grating and unlistenable. Btw Howard was fine. I don't mean to be unkind, but perhaps some people need to be toned down a bit and talk less while others talk more or perhaps bring in a third panelist?

  • Previous contestants make this interesting

Given that they have (a lot of) advertising and are getting paid for their classes there’s zero reason for Jane and Howard having such terrible audio quality. Harold has a mic but it’s terrible; it sounds like Jane is speaking in the vicinity of a cheap laptop. Echo and more quiet than anyone else. The host clearly has a proper mic so the levels are all off. The bakers have insider knowledge but are far too deferential and polite about the Prue and Paul. The amount of times Jane complains about ... more

Don't Get The Hump
Q: Do you have to create a recipe from scratch or can you start with somebody else's recipe and then tweak the flavors and decorations?
Typically, contestants can tweak existing recipes by changing three significant elements, adapting and infusing new flavors based on their preferences and experiences.
Taking The Pith
Q: What are your thoughts on the judging criteria?
There's a sense of inconsistency in the judging that sometimes makes it look as though there's favoritism with certain bakers receiving praise despite similar mistakes as others who are criticized.
Taking The Pith
Q: Was this a good challenge?
Yes, the signature challenge of mini meringue pies was overall very popular among the bakers, making everyone want to create something beautiful.
Taking The Pith
Q: What do we think of Jasmine's meringue pies?
Jasmine had a nice passion fruit curd and raspberries, with great flavors, but she didn't have enough meringue compared to what was expected for a meringue challenge.
Top of the Class
Q: How do we start to learn all the basic skills and techniques that seem to have been handed down the generations with other bakers?
Start with mastering a basic sponge, then progress to different recipes, using bakers with high ratings. Don't start with brownies, as they can be tricky.
