  • Tactical founder guidance

If you’re an early 0-1 stage startup this podcast is awesome. Love how the host presses for details on what the Founders are actually doing in the very very early stages rather than just waxing poetic about sales funnels. Good early stage founder guests too who really open up.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AWS Chief Evangelist on How to Evangelize Software
Q: What lessons would you pass on to someone starting as an evangelist at a new cloud startup today?
Prioritize deep product knowledge and audience needs, reach the right developers with credible, authentic messaging, and use scalable channels while still nurturing tight, meaningful in-person connections where possible.
AWS Chief Evangelist on How to Evangelize Software
Q: What was the turning point that convinced you AWS would become massive?
Early on, the combination of a growing developer ecosystem, the architecture of services like EC2 and S3, and real, measurable adoption signs showed momentum beyond a niche; the shift from a technical curiosity to a scalable, business-backed platform was the turning point.
AWS Chief Evangelist on How to Evangelize Software
Q: You've traveled a lot and engaged with developers around the world. How do you determine whether an audience is the right fit for your message?
The key is whether developers want to be there and if the talk offers concrete value. Attendance and engagement—people voting with their feet—trump size; you'll find the right audience even in smaller gatherings when the topic resonates.
How to grow a newsletter w/ MKT1’s Emily Kramer
Q: What's your approach to choosing newsletter topics when posting bi-weekly?
Emily explains she follows conversations with companies and advisors, builds a roadmap from those discussions, but remains flexible enough to shift topics if something more compelling comes up; she also balances the need for depth with variety by alternating between fully researched pieces and more interview-driven formats.
How to be more funny on LinkedIn w/ Renée Shaw
Q: Can humor be coached or learned, or is it a natural talent?
Renée argues that coaching humor is not about teaching a formula; it's about creating safe space to experiment, recognizing boundaries (especially in regulated industries), and cultivating a persistent, iterative process rather than a one-time fix.
