Array Cast is a window into the world of array programming. Based on the work of Canadian Ken Iverson whose mathematical notation for working with arrays was eventually reified into the programming language APL, array programming is a paradigm that changes the way one thinks.
Featuring panellists representing a diverse swath of array languages, the podcast continually demonstrates how notation truly is a tool of thought.
Highly recommended.
An engaging resource for exploring the differences among the array langs; for learning about the evolution of the tools of thought which underpin them; and for hearing about their various real-world applications from industry veterans. Great energy among the panelists. I’ve really appreciated the added immersion this has provided while learning APL and J thus far.
This is the only podcast where I can say I’ve listened to every episode. If you’re into learning some programming etymology way beyond Python, this is for you. Nice coverage of J, K, APL, BQN and KDB+. Keep up the great work.
