  • Great content, terrible recording

    Hi there

I’m a big fan of Wilbur Smith and this podcast is wonderful. It is just a pity that not enough attention is given to the quality of recording. Levels between hosts are all different which means I’m constantly pulling volume up and down just to hear what’s being said. Great content, but unfortunately is let down by the poor recording quality.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 9: AdventureSmith with Elodie Harper and Adam Oyebanji
Q: Do you need to have been to a place to write about it effectively?
Adam argues that while travel helps, imagination and internet research can be enough to write convincingly about a place, and going there should not be a barrier to storytelling.
Ep. 1: AdventureSmith with Lise Wortley
Q: Are you ready?
Yes, and the host begins with rapid-fire questions to showcase Lise's practical wit and preferences, revealing her love for endurance challenges despite acknowledging their difficulty.
Ep. 2: AdventureSmith with Keme Nzerem
Q: What does adventure mean to you in your work and life?
Adventure for Keme blends risk, discovery, and a desire to connect cultures; it includes both physical exploration and learning from people and places, with a focus on making meaningful impact.
Ep. 2: AdventureSmith with Keme Nzerem
Q: Could you tell me about a piece of journalism work that you're really proud of?
Keme describes leading a Channel 4 News initiative that restructured the schedule to foreground Black producers and storytellers, culminating in coverage of the Benin bronzes dispute and earning a BAFTA nomination.
Ep. 5: AdventureSmith with Sophy Roberts
Q: Where did the book The Training School for Elephants come from?
It grew from a real historical thread I encountered in Congo, tied to King Leopold's era, which I explored through archives, field visits, and a careful reconstruction of events to make a general reader feel the weight of that history without drowning in its complexity.
