Are you a music obsessive? Can you sit down for an hour or so poring over an album you love, digging deep into the lyrics, musical references and 'secret sauce' that makes it so special to you? Then this just MIGHT be your podcast! Each week your host - rock-n-roll lifer and recovering punk Rob Elba - sits down with a special guest to dissect a record that - metaphorically - got them high.

As far as debut albums go, there's some that seem to appear out of nowhere as a fully-formed, perfectly realized statement-of-purpose. New Jersey-based drummer, blogger, and lawyer Steve Kirsch makes the case that Hoodoo Gurus 1984 debut 'Stoneage Ro... more

I love some of the content, especially the Wire episodes, & I have no axe to grind with Rob Elba but his rambling, sometimes incoherent enunciation is infuriating. Stumbling over his words, using 17 words when one would suffice, not finishing sentences etc all make for annoyance. I canโt help thinking that his podcasts could be 50% shorter if presented by A.N. Other.
Lots of great insights and knowledgeable guests here! My only quibble is that the music samples are played at clip thatโs faster than the originals.
Without music, life would be a mistake and without TRGMH podcasts would be as well.
Thanks to Rob and friends for the healthy reminder
Thoroughly impressed with how devoted Rob Alba is in his mission to discuss vital albums of our times. Itโs not easy to continue to do a weekly podcast, but heโs in it ~ for over six years. Kudos to Rob & TRGMH!
