Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AI, Governance and Cyber Security. Why Resilience Still Depends on the Fundamentals with Min Livanidis
Q: What are the interdependencies and vulnerabilities between AI and cybersecurity that you wish were better understood?
AI is not one thing; it's a set of tools that can both strengthen defenses and introduce non-deterministic risk. The key is to apply standard security controls to AI like any software, while also understanding how agentic AI changes risk profiles and focusing on data governance, access controls, and red-teaming to anticipate adversarial use.
AI, Governance and Cyber Security. Why Resilience Still Depends on the Fundamentals with Min Livanidis
Q: How do you think our policy settings are achieving the balance between promoting innovation and safeguarding the public?
There is promising progress with initiatives like responsible AI programs, the AI Safety Institute, and ongoing reviews; however, success depends on purposeful, literacy-based implementation and ongoing governance to ensure technology benefits society without compromising safety.
AI, Governance and Cyber Security. Why Resilience Still Depends on the Fundamentals with Min Livanidis
Q: Min, what did you find most interesting about your time in intelligence?
The most interesting aspect was how diverse backgrounds can be transformed into a highly capable technical workforce through structured, long-term training, showing that talent can be redirected to meet demanding operational needs.
The Human Factor: Cyber Deception, Decision-Making and Emerging Technologies with Dr Andrew Reeves
Q: AI and cybersecurity: what trends should we watch and how might boards respond to increasing AI risk?
Key trends include differing regulatory approaches (deregulation in the US vs. more controlled EU frameworks) and growing attention to AI risk governance; boards may increasingly interrogate AI risk profiles and learn from cybersecurity governance to apply similar structures to AI risk management.
The Human Factor: Cyber Deception, Decision-Making and Emerging Technologies with Dr Andrew Reeves
Q: Can you explain a little bit more about what cyber deception is and why it's underutilized as a tool?
Cyber deception is about designing networks and environments to mislead attackers, making their task harder while keeping the defender's life easier; it's not about hackback but about strategic misdirection and tripwires. Uptake has been limited because deception is seen as technically advanced, can create false positives, and requires cultural and organizational shifts that many teams have yet to adopt.
