  • AI Generated

I was hoping for more but that fact that this is an AI podcast and called “Real Talk” is crazy. So disappointed in this as Rae markets herself as authentic and real, I mean it is a constant market campaign on social media. Another review spoke about the articles being AI generated as well. I am not sure if that is true but I would hope not. Because of this, I am unsubscribing from all emails, and all things TDI, because Teachers Deserve authenticity.

  • “Real” Talk? Nope

Total scam. I certainly don’t begrudge any self-styled influencer the chance to make an honest living, but the key word here is “honest.” And that’s the kicker: every episode of this real talk podcast that’s supposedly “hosted by the Teachers Deserve It Team” is, in fact, entirely AI-generated using NotebookLM. ***The hosts are not even real people.*** And the fact that this is never once acknowledged on any of the episodes or descriptions is really kind of shameful. Each episode starts with a q... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Building Connections and Self-Care Strategies with Andrew Marotta | Sustainable Teaching
Q: How can teachers protect personal time while still meeting professional responsibilities?
Set boundaries by allocating energy deliberately (roughly 80% for work, 20% for personal life), communicate needs to colleagues, and create practical routines such as leaving the work area during meals and preparing meals ahead of time.
Building Connections and Self-Care Strategies with Andrew Marotta | Sustainable Teaching
Q: What are some quick strategies to maintain connections in a busy school day?
Three simple practices—smiling to invite interaction, being curious and asking questions, and actively listening with personal memory aids (like notes)—stay top of mind as effective relationship-building tools.
New Episode with Cheryl Graff | Sustainable Teaching with Rae Hughart
Q: After building a long-running program, I'm considering stepping back due to health concerns and burnout. How can I walk away without damaging what I built?
A gradual transition works best: involve student leaders to mentor the next teacher, consider revamping the program to be more sustainable, and explore alternate hosting options or partnerships to share responsibilities. This preserves the program's impact while protecting the health and well-being of the current leader.
New Episode with Cheryl Graff | Sustainable Teaching with Rae Hughart
Q: I'm a high school Spanish teacher and I'm also Latina. My students and their parents expect me to be available 24/7 to translate documents and help with immigration paperwork. How do I protect myself and set boundaries without hurting students and families?
A practical approach is to establish office hours or an appointment system, point families to community resources, and be transparent about limits. Communicate that you want to help, but you need boundaries and organized support; referring families to local agencies and providing resources helps sustain you while still serving the community.
The 60-Second Reset Every Educator Needs
Q: How exactly does the 60-second reset work in a live classroom when a moment of chaos hits?
It follows a three-part sequence—conscious breathing, light physical release if needed, and a quick internal check-in—to pause, regain control, and realign actions with core values, enabling a more intentional response rather than a reflexive reaction.
