  • Knowledgeable, educational and funny!

I listened to this on the drive to school with the kids. I love how ShaoLan dives into the history of the word, explain the roots and how it is relatable to the current world we live in. She interviews an inspirational individual every episode and in turn, teaches them Chinese. I love this concept!

  • Quick, concise, helpful, nutritious

7 minutes is the perfect amount of time for a healthy language snack. ShaoLan makes learning fun and helps reinforce a daily study habit. I’m a fairly new listener and episode 20 is my favorite so far. Funny and useful 😊

Rating individual episodes: E315 Love the comprehensive list of shoe related vocab: 鞋子。皮鞋。布鞋。女鞋。球鞋。男鞋。童鞋。穿鞋子。脱鞋。(take off shoes and also means ”slippers”), 鞋店。Also, ShaoLan does an excellent job of refocusing the discussion back to 鞋子。👍

  • Ok but could be so much better

The content is useful but you need to tell the listeners what tones the vocabulary has.

I don’t understand the use of guests, other than you’re teaching them Chinese and there is some weak link of why they have been asked to be on the show. It would be so much better without the guests.

  • Remember and forget

Very useful and helpful words: all the teachings are few words a day and easy to remember: repetition and frequent listening make me more remember. Thank you very much for your wise way of teaching method. Awesome lessons. To remember, I have to recall and listen at least one lesson a day, every day.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Very Helpful for many levels of acquisition

The podcast is very interesting and helpful. I found myself going over the words that I know well just to get the history of the characters and some interesting usage in the past. It allows me to feel the language on different level. Yes, sometimes they talk too much but that’s exactly the time to consolidate the new information, divert attention and check if you really remember. Some people are really interesting there. Very special idea of the podcast. I love it!
