  • From skeptic to (almost) boot camp recruit

I didn’t think a podcast about muscle, and the military would hook me, but here I am, halfway to joining boot camp 😉

Damian has a knack for simplifying complex ideas and creating space for honest storytelling. The stories are real, relatable, and surprisingly moving. Smart, raw, and worth a listen - even if barbells aren’t your usual thing.

  • A terrific listen!

At last, a no-fluff podcast for the somewhat diplomatically inclined! A terrific podcast for anyone interested in personal development and leadership. Many of the guests have a military background, I don’t, but I do lead people and teams in the health and fitness space, and it’s inspiring to hear guests share nuggets of wisdom on topics that are relatable for everyone. The interview style is relaxed and genuine, yet informative. And there is always a takeaway that you can apply to your life imme... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dr Nic Gill: From the NZ All Blacks to the Baltimore Ravens — His Biggest Test Yet
Q: How do you figure out when to give an athlete an arm around the shoulder versus a hard word to motivate them?
The approach hinges on trust and honest conversations; you need a relationship where athletes feel seen and understood, and motivation comes from within, not from shouting or external quotes. Coaching is about providing structure and the right skill set so athletes own their performance.
Randy Couture: UFC Legend, Movie Star and Veteran-Life Behind and Beyond the UFC Octagon
Q: What did you change mentally to come back after setbacks and comebacks in your career?
I embraced the underdog position, trusted my training, stayed focused on solving problems, and kept the external noise in perspective, which allowed me to push through adversity and perform at a high level.
LAURIN PONCE: HOW I LOST MYSELF — Rules Women Don’t Want to Hear (But Need to Become Their Best Selves)
Q: What do men get wrong about women in relationships, based on your experience?
She explains that men often try to solve emotions with logic, whereas women want to feel heard and validated first; once validated, they're more open to practical solutions. This dynamic underpins healthier communication and stronger boundaries.
Samantha Brunskill: THE ILLUMINATOR- Transformation, Leadership, and Building a Six-Star Customer Experience
Q: How did you figure out the client's needs from the idle client perspective?
Sam explains it started with extensive market research, recognizing gaps in a male-dominated market, and then designing a buying experience rooted in emotion and community rather than just price and profit.
Dean Stott MBE: From SBS Special Forces to World Records - An Incredible Second Life
Q: How did your transition from elite military service to high-profile media work and public-speaking roles happen, and what allowed you to stay authentic?
The key was leveraging transferable skills—calm decision-making, crisis management, leadership under pressure—and using a high-visibility project like the bike ride to show the world the value of those skills. This, combined with staying true to the mission of helping others, allowed me to move into TV and speaking without compromising who I am.
