  • One bad bastage

Dutch might not remember anything, but he’s still more entertaining than many other podcasters. That old bastage alongside James’ natural “lovable” assholiness is a marriage that is easy on the ears!

  • The best wrestling podcast

The last man standing for me is Dutch. Where others have shown their ignorance on past and current events, Dutch has always been a gentleman. He shares his opinion but knows how to put out just enough that he never sounds stupid. James is awesome and is not afraid to attack the business when it’s necessary. Clear and concise Dutch and James keep it on point and relevant. Great job guys.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ask Dutch Anything 114 | The Worst Match Ever - Zeus vs Abdullah The Butcher
Q: John from Pleasant Hill, Missouri asks how different promotions structured matches and why some shows were heavy on interviews and squash, while others were more match-focused.
Dutch discussed booking philosophy, emphasizing the importance of main events to keep viewers watching, the challenge of pacing across segments, and how different territories experimented with formats to maximize TV time and live attendance.
Ask Dutch Anything 114 | The Worst Match Ever - Zeus vs Abdullah The Butcher
Q: Next question, Bogdan from Kiev. Mr. Dutch, what is your opinion on Nelson Frazier, aka Viscera, aka Big Daddy V, aka King Mabel?
Dutch explained that Frazier was often booked as the muscle in partnerships and needed strong teammates to carry matches; he noted health problems and limited mobility affecting his in-ring dynamics, and suggested that his size limited his longevity but his character and presence were assets when paired with the right storyline.
Ask Dutch Anythiing 113
Q: Who was Dutch Mantell's closest friend in wrestling, and would he consider Jerry Lawler a close friend?
Dutch says he had close friends in wrestling but kept in touch less after people left promotions; he considers Lawler a friend but not a close one, noting associations rather than deep ties.
Ask Dutch Anything 112 | Wrestling's Greatest Years
Q: What era would you have liked to wrestle in, and why?
I'd pick the money era today because the money is much better, but I would also want to enjoy Memphis from 80 to 85 since that period had a great audience and strong promotion dynamics; the modern money helps sustain the lifestyle, while the classic era offered unmatched crowd energy.
Ask Dutch Anything 111 | How Wrestling Has Changed
Q: What was a typical day of booking in TNA, and how did you handle chaos or rewrites?
Booking in TNA was relatively structured, with TV planned about two weeks ahead; if injuries occurred, you could adjust by shooting two weeks of material in Orlando. Rewrites happened, but the process aimed to keep continuity while adapting to changes.
