  • Not great

Just listened to the first 10 mins of the Once Were Warriors pod, really poor. Heaps of the hosts saying ‘I don’t know about New Zealand’, ‘I don’t know about Māori culture’, ‘ I have no experience with…’, ‘I’m not comfortable saying (a characters name) not particularly offensive by the way, I think his names Neg, but that’s too much for the hosts’. Why listen to two chumps bang on about something they clearly don’t care about and haven’t made any effort to engage with.

  • Tell me I’m wrong

I come for some of my favorite podcasters, I stay for the constant slurps, gulps, and mouth noises directly into my ear. It’s like they know we all want more “cowbell,” and by more cowbell I mean consistent, guttural oral sounds that emanate when you drink in the beginning, middle and end of every other sentence. I’m surprised there aren’t more cuts to go to the bathroom because these boys are hydrated.

  • Jaded

Longtime listener, possibly done. It’s sad to me to hear so many of the guys grow SO jaded over the years. On the whole it feels like they don’t enjoy anything, and jump straight to lazy hyperbole anytime something doesn’t work for them. Tom on the “Project Hail Mary” episode was the last straw for me. I know it’s a hard time out there but the negativity just feels like a larger and larger part of the identity of this programming.

  • Unexpected Delight

Just listened to the ‘My Winnipeg’ episode and it was an unexpected delight. Two hosts that are as knowledgable as they are passionate about film and culture. They bounce off each other really well and it doesn’t feel as gimmicky and point scoring as most other film podcasts.

TimeCast - 8.28.2026 - Featuring Michael Swaim
Q: What stood out most to you about 1996 trailer design and marketing?
Trailers of 1996 used a bold, often meta approach with aggressive pacing, iconic voiceover, and cultural touchstones that created an immediate sense of spectacle and hype, sometimes making a film feel bigger than it was.
We Just Watched... Celia (With Drew Grant)
Q: What did you think of Celia as a character and her narrative arc?
Celia is portrayed as a preternaturally perceptive child who absorbs the cruelties around her and channels them into a radical response, suggesting that oppression and systemic propaganda can push someone toward extreme action, while also highlighting the difficulty of breaking free from ingrained dogma.
Sasq Watch - 15 - Big Legend
Q: What do you think of Big Legend?
It's the edge, but with Big Feet, more or less.
