  • When ignorance is NOT bliss!

I can’t believe how much I have learned about the Catholic Faith. I went through RCIA in 2001 and the primary text was “Catholicism for Dummies “. I joined the church not really thinking it was much different than the Protestant churches I had attended-except there was one actual leader and there was a general rule book that everyone had to follow. I also believed that Peter was the first leader. The NO is all I knew until my teenage daughter talked about a mass in Latin. I started listening and... more

Assumption Academy in Walton, KY – Sacred Restorations
Q: What is the rationale behind the design choices and capacity planning for the new school?
Classrooms are sized to accommodate about 30 students each, totaling 360 capacity, to allow for continued growth; the design aims to project professional space for teachers, a quality environment, and flexibility to convert the main hall into classrooms if needed to handle future enrollment increases.
Assumption Academy in Walton, KY – Sacred Restorations
Q: Can you tell me about the current status and scope of the Assumption Academy project?
The first phase, including classrooms, offices, a hall, and mechanical spaces, is about 80% complete on the exterior, with interior work like electrical and plumbing underway; the plan is to finish the first phase and move the school in during the next school year, likely mid to late fall or early winter.
The Decree of Excommunication: What It Means for the SSPX and the Faithful-Questions with Father #60
Q: What impact does the law of supplied jurisdiction have on the validity of confessions and marriages performed by SSPX priests?
Supplied jurisdiction allows confessions to be valid even if a priest lacks formal authorization, and there are similar, though more limited, provisions for marriages; thus, many sacraments remain valid under common error or other canonical mechanisms, despite the withdrawal of explicit authorization.
The Decree of Excommunication: What It Means for the SSPX and the Faithful-Questions with Father #60
Q: Can the excommunication of SSPX bishops be morally or canonically justified if the Society argues that their actions were of necessity?
The discussion asserts that there can be a state of necessity that might mitigate culpability, but it also notes that the decree relies on established canon law; whether the excommunication is valid depends on whether the actions meet the required canonical and doctrinal criteria, which the speakers argue may be contested.
The Future of the SSPX and the Future of Tradition: Episcopal Consecrations #12
Q: Why does the Society believe bishops are needed now without papal mandate?
Because of a grave state of necessity in the Church, where the salvation of souls requires a return to traditional doctrine, governance, and liturgy, and because historical precedent and canon law allow for actions in a state of grave necessity to protect the faithful.
