  • Mind your words Gus

Until Gus apologises for the way he talked to Michael Chammas, I am done with this podcast. He pleads his innocence on the fact he didn’t use the exact wording that is put to him but you don’t have to be a genius to see what was happening. Gus was not genuine in his actions or the way spoke, he was caught out and then tried to belittle someone to get the upper hand. Understand the majority of NRL followers don’t trust Gus anymore. You did what you needed to do for the Dogs but treated everyone e... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

“I’ve Been Dead for 3 Days” | Gus’ Origin Calls, Magic Round Chaos & The Walsh v Ponga Debate
Q: Is there a world in which NSW can accommodate James Tedesco and Dylan Edwards in the same team?
Technically possible only if one is used as a 19th player or placed in non-traditional roles; realistically, it's unlikely to pair them in the traditional 17, so teams would balance by using one of them in a flexible role and slotting the other into a different position as needed.
Stories of Origin: Billy Slater's Favourite Origin - The "Billy the Kid" Breakout
Q: Billy, would you encourage players to chip and chase like that in Game 2 of 2004 if you were coaching Queensland?
Yes, you should encourage players to be themselves and trust their instincts. Slater notes you can't force another style onto someone and emphasizes playing to your strengths and reading the moment.
Ask Gus: Hardest Worker Ever Coached and Gus’ go-to Chinese dish
Q: Is Kaio Wicks someone you'd consider blooding at Origin in the next couple of years?
Gus replies that Kaio needs to develop at club level first but acknowledges his potential, with senior players and experience being decisive factors in Origin selection.
Ask Gus: Hardest Worker Ever Coached and Gus’ go-to Chinese dish
Q: Looking back at Queensland's eight consecutive series wins, was there ever a moment you considered returning to coach the Blues?
Gus answers with a firm no, suggesting the decision was clear and final, and implies respect for the ongoing Blues setup and the demands of contemporary coaching roles.
Ask Gus: Hardest Worker Ever Coached and Gus’ go-to Chinese dish
Q: Who is the hardest working player you have ever coached, on or off the field?
Gus highlights Colin Vanderhoot and Luke Ricketson as prime examples of extraordinary work rate and endurance, noting Vanderhoot's 'game day warrior' attitude and Ricketson's post-career marathons, which illustrate sustained effort and resilience.
