  • AI series top notch!

Hello from Toppenish, WA. The AI series for the month of May was excellent. I really enjoyed the prompts. One things I learned was to make sure the you state the the AI is a expert in that particular subject. This blew my mind!!! I can wait to be a guest again.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Kids Need Stories About Belonging and Friendship Right Now | Jasmine Warga
Q: Can you walk listeners through your research process for putting this book together?
I describe how cheetahs in zoos and in the wild show anxiety and how pairing them with dogs calms them, which informed the central premise. I also talk about developing the two animal narrators to give readers a clear entry point into themes of belonging and trust.
Billy Ray on Writing Hope in Dark Times, and Building Future Worlds
Q: An honor to be speaking with you today, sir. What sparked your shift from screenwriting to writing a novel?
The guest explains that the shift was driven by a desire to expand world-building, use the novel format to explore larger imaginative landscapes, and write with lean, muscular prose similar to screenplays while leveraging the novel's freedom to create a fully realized world.
Tui T. Sutherland on Creativity, World-Building, Empathy, and Writing for Young Readers
Q: What practical steps do you take to build a world as expansive as Wings of Fire?
I start with five core characters and imagine how they differ from one another, then I map the world's history, locations, and cultures to create a believable ecosystem. I keep lists of questions to resolve and let the answers emerge through writing and character interactions, always returning to the themes I care about, like empathy and community.
Character First Writing: Practical Mini Lessons from Deborah Goodrich Royce
Q: What is your process for starting a new project?
I get a jolting idea, write it down, ruminate on it, and describe my characters while keeping organized notes.
Character First Writing: Practical Mini Lessons from Deborah Goodrich Royce
Q: Do you think your background in acting influences your writing process?
Yes, acting makes you hyper aware of human emotions and the capacity to pretend, which translates into character development.
