某冠スポンサーさんからの要請か、2014年から3年ほど続いたレッスン形式のプログラム改変は最悪で、ああいうのはNHK教育とかがやるべきことで、日経さんがやるべきことではないと思いました。現在は初期の形式に戻って非常に喜ばしいのですが、主張が強いグレゴリー・クラークさんに、違うと思うことは違うと果敢にツッコミを入れていた知的な多田記子さん、そんな2人を優しく見守るジェフさん、という3人のフリートークっぽく展開していた当初の頃が、やっぱり痛快で面白かったなあと思います。クラークさんが主張してきたことも、今となっては多少間違っていることはあれ、概ね当たっていることが大半で、さすがだなあと思う一方、もうお年のようですし、今後は昔のような推しの強さを発揮するのは難しいのだろうなあと残念に思いつつ、しかし、最近の番組は事務的に台本読んでるだけの感じが非常にさびしい。クラークさんの代わりになるような英語ネイティブを見つけるのは困難を極めるとは思いますが、どういう形でもよいので、なんとか昔の生き生きとした雰囲気を復活させて欲しいなあと心から思います。

米大卒の英語上級者で、正直、ここで取り上げられている表現はほとんど知っているのですが、ニュースとして視聴価値があるのと、少しずれた意味で覚えてしまっている単語などをたまに発見することがあり、覚え直しの復習としても重宝しています。色々と英会話のポッドキャストをチェックしていますが、ここくらい実用的な表現を取り上げているポッドキャストはなかなかないと思います。英語ネイティヴがやってるポッドキャストは、個人の有料レッスンのほうでだけで実用的な表現を教える戦略をとっている場合が多く、特に上級者向けは、高齢者しか使わないような古すぎる表現を教えているもの、たいして教えもせず視聴者的にはどーでも良い無駄なおしゃべりに終始するポッドキャストもよくあります。「日本語が多すぎる」とか「政治的バイアスが」とかイチャモンつけてる人は他に無数にあるポッドキャストの中から自分の好みに合ったものを見つければ良いだけの話。New York TimesやBBCなどの英語のニュース記事を読んだり、ニュース動画を視聴できるようになりたい人はぜひこのポッドキャストを聴きましょう。ここで取り上げられる表現は100%、アメリカ... more
