  • The best podcast for cat people!

This podcast is for the true cat lovers. Those that call themselves cat people or a crazy cat lady. Those who will bend over backwards for strays… (and maybe even take 4 of them in 🙋🏻‍♀️). Interesting and fun conversations while being educational as well!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 61: Terri Grow, Feline Nutritionist
Q: Is raw food safe for cats and when might it be appropriate to consider it?
Raw or gently cooked diets can be beneficial for some cats and conditions, provided there is careful handling to manage pathogens, with options like sous-vide or high-pressure pasteurization; not every home is suitable, but it can improve immune function and digestion for some cats.
Episode 73: Dr. Mary Manspeaker, DVM, MS
Q: How do vaccines differ in shelter medicine compared to private practice?
In shelters, kittens are vaccinated earlier (as young as four weeks) and boosters come every two to three weeks due to higher exposure risk; in private practice, first boosters are typically at six to eight weeks with boosters every three weeks until 18-20 weeks old.
Episode 73: Dr. Mary Manspeaker, DVM, MS
Q: What are practical things cat owners can do to help their cats live healthier, longer lives?
Ensure vaccinations and preventatives are tailored to lifestyle, provide ample fresh water from multiple sources, maintain clean litter boxes, offer enrichment and safe outdoor access, and choose a stable, quality diet while avoiding abrupt dietary changes; monitor changes in behavior and consult a veterinarian if concerns arise.
Episode 63: David Grimm: Citizen Canine
Q: How did dogs and cats become domesticated and end up as companion animals?
Dogs likely domesticated around 20,000 years ago through mutual co-dependence during hunter-gatherer times, while cats followed later, attracted by rodent control and human settlements, with domestication occurring gradually over thousands of years.
Episode 70: Jackson Galaxy
Q: Right out of the gate, my first question is I'm definitely interested in the origin story of how you became who you are today, how you got involved and passionate about cat behavior in the first place.
Jackson describes how his early work at shelters, the move from being a barista to a cat care specialist, and witnessing the realities of shelter life shaped his path; learning from colleagues and hands-on experience propelled him to become a prominent cat-behavior advocate and media figure.
