《雜寶藏經卷九》
在印度的鬱禪延城，有一位國王名叫惡生王。一日清晨，當守城門的士兵打開城門時，發現城門外竟排著五百輛牛車，車上不僅載著滿盛金粟的寶缽，而且每個缽上都有寫著「贈予惡生王」的封印。士兵一看，趕緊將這件事稟報國王，請惡生王裁決是否該收下這些寶缽。
惡生王心想：「這些寶物雖然珍貴，但來得這麼突然，又沒有署名，或許是不祥之物，如果我冒然接受，恐怕會為我的國家帶來災禍。」惡生王無法妄下決定，於是驅車前往求教迦栴延尊者。

一天，佛陀罹患風寒，名醫耆婆用三十二種珍貴藥材合成藥酥，供養佛陀。此時，好忌的提婆達多心中非常羨慕，也要求耆婆供養他。耆婆為難的說：「尊者啊！這種藥酥雖是珍品，但只適合佛陀服用，因為如來的報身尊貴，和凡夫不同，一般人服多了反而會傷身。佛陀一天可吃三十二兩的藥，我看您一天吃四兩就足夠了！」提婆達多一聽，心中非常嫉妒不平，懷疑耆婆看不起他，還是堅持和佛陀的藥量相同。結果，提婆達多因為藥性太強，而使身體不能負荷，自作自受的躺在床上哀號不已。
