Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Quodlibet 15: Is the Mystical Body Really a Body?
Q: What latitude exists for a faithful Catholic in accepting the efficacy of liberal institutions?
Yes, a Catholic can maintain support for certain forms of integralism, as integralism is seen as church doctrine, despite common misconceptions about its association with current political frameworks.
Quodlibet 15: Is the Mystical Body Really a Body?
Q: What does it really mean to be a member of Christ's mystical body?
It signifies being incorporated into a community where Christ is the head, and through grace, members share in divine attributes and responsibilities towards one another.
Quodlibet 12: Is Batman a Just Man?
Q: What would St. Thomas and the wider Catholic tradition have to say about Batman and his approach to administering justice?
The hosts discuss how Aquinas believes an unjust law does not bind, emphasizing the importance of not usurping the state's power while allowing citizens to uphold the law.
The Theology of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner
Q: How would you recommend people approach Fehlner's works?
Volumes 1, 4, and 8 are probably the most broadly interesting as they contain key insights and discussions on the Franciscan tradition.
Quodlibet 13: How Do I Get the Best Spot in Heaven?
Q: This listener says, this is a bit of a longer question, but says, recently while talking with a co-worker of mine, a renowned biological anthropologist, I learned that although there is very little physical evidence, there is a belief in the field that Neanderthals very likely wore clothes made of hides, and also some form of footwear that they had stitched together using needles and thread... Does the Church teach only that Homo sapiens sapiens are guilty of original sin and redeemed through Christ's sacrifice on the cross?
The Church does not limit original sin to only Homo sapiens sapiens; it could be inferred that Neanderthals, being potentially rational beings, could also be guilty of original sin if they are considered the same species.
