  • Great content, horrible sound quality

The content of this podcast is great! However, the quality of the audio is so distracting that it is hard to listen to. It would be much better if not recorded on YouTube or edited more. I find myself very interested in what is being talked about, but only able to catch every other word that is being said at times. Please look into other forms of recording so that the audio is more consistent.

  • Great Content, bad audio

I find it difficult to listen most of the time door to such poor sound quality. This is too bad since I’m sure there’s a lot of great info.

SPP 195: From Retained to Resilient with Dr. Gary Schaffer
Q: What are your thoughts on ways that school psychologists can advocate for children with disabilities?
School psychologists need to be reflexive in their practices and aware of how their biases may influence decisions.
SPP 184: Dyslexia: Its nature, cause, and prevention
Q: Is it ever appropriate to qualify a student for SLD with only spelling deficits?
It's important to pay attention to spelling as it's closely related to writing. If a child is a poor speller, they may struggle with writing as well, which can impact their academic performance.
SPP 184: Dyslexia: Its nature, cause, and prevention
Q: Is it that speed and fluency is always going to be low, or can there be some gains made?
You can certainly get kids to improve in their fluency, and the more they read, the more quickly they're going to be able to recognize the words based on orthographic patterns.
SPP 187: Minu Thomas and Lindsay Bourdeau on DBT Applications
Q: Is DBT suitable for younger children?
Yes, DBT can be adapted for elementary students, though it was originally designed for older age groups.
SPP 187: Minu Thomas and Lindsay Bourdeau on DBT Applications
Q: What can you tell us about DVT and maybe this new third wave of cognitive behavioral therapy in general?
DBT was developed to work with individuals who struggle with chronic emotion dysregulation and incorporates both validation and change strategies.
