  • Really great content

Thoughtful rose content that is very useful and I’m always excited to tune in. Some audio issues at times. I generally have to turn up the volume for this podcast, there are occasional episodes where I cannot hear even if I turn the volume up the entire way. Otherwise, great content that just needs some technical adjustments.

  • Great Show!

So glad I stumbled across this podcast. I am newer to growing roses and really enjoy listening to all the wonderful information and guest speakers. Very well done!

P.S. Gaye Hammond needs to help cohost the show too! Always enjoy her spunk and wealth of knowledge.

  • Thanks for the roses

Thanks Teresa and Chris for a great podcast. My only negative is that it could be longer. I’m listening while working in clients gardens. And I need at least 45 minutes please! :-)

  • Plenty of heart, needs consistency

Love that this podcast exists—the hosts are clearly very passionate, well-respected rosarians. The technical execution is all over the place, however, generally leaving the impression that a tech novice is at the controls. Very sporadic frequency doesn’t help matters. My guess is that the hosts are too busy, inexperienced and under-resourced to really produce this in earnest. Keep at it, though, there IS an audience for this!

  • Audio Quality Is Terrible

I can hardly understand the last episode. Surprised a prime grower Like Austen would appear.

BUILDING A BETTER ROSE SOCIETY
Q: How did your rose show change as you rebuilt the Mother Lode Rose Society?
They shifted from a traditional judged show to a large non-judged display, introduced a mini 'needing to judge' portion, and later blended both judged and non-judged elements. This made the show more relaxed, invited broader participation, and reduced costs while maintaining excitement—especially with themed displays and public voting in some categories.
ROSE SHOW WINNERS FROM A NO-SPRAY GARDEN
Q: What are Baldo's top tips for showing roses if they're not top secret?
Baldo recommends partnering with an experienced exhibitor, taking newcomers through the garden a week before the show to learn how to select, cut, and groom roses, and keeping a ready-to-use setup (tags, ribbons, tools) for a smoother show experience.
FIND YOUR BLOOMATE
Q: What was the goal of the Philadelphia Flower Show display, and how did it impact attendees?
The goal was to debunk fear around rose gardening by showing that there is a perfect rose for every gardener, demonstrated through an interactive, matchmaking approach that helped attendees select roses suited to their zones, spaces, and needs, which led to engagement, questions, and positive emotional responses.
A BLOOMING FUTURE FOR ARS & ARC
Q: How do you see this change benefiting members, volunteers, and even the broader Rose growing community?
Both organizations agree their missions remain intact but can now focus more effectively on their unique goals, thus enriching member engagement and educational opportunities.
A BLOOMING FUTURE FOR ARS & ARC
Q: Could we talk about what led to the decision to separate the American Rose Society and the American Rose Center into two distinct organizations?
Marilyn stated that the separation was a financial and business decision driven by sustainability issues, emphasizing the need for both organizations to survive independently.
