  • Best hunting podcast out there!

I found the Rokcast about a year ago, the content is amazing and I have learned a lot from listening. The only thing I would like is more episodes about Oregon deer hunting.

  • Good podcast

Please hire a sound engineer. Robbie sounds like he is talking through a balled up sock and he’s sitting across the room from his microphone. Other than that, the hunting content is very informative. I wish Robbie would stick to exclusively talking about that subject, because when he veers off course, I start wondering why I subscribe.

  • Use to be good

Use to cover all kinds of hunting topics and species. Now it’s just mule deer 98% of the time. And Robby Denning reading a book to you like you’re a child. Totally worthless now.

  • Genuine

Having had the opportunity to meet and shoot with Robbie, he is as genuine in person as he seems on the podcast. Great show, great people, great information, great platform in Rokslide.

  • Mule deer

I enjoy hearing from the biologists on mule deer. I would like to hear from them about the percentage of bucks that make it to each age class. In the Wyoming range, Idaho range, or even Utah. Maybe a comparison between otc and draw units, or even in regions

Keep up the rockcast. I look forward to it each week

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tony Trietch on Big Mule Deer, Desert Bulls & Western Hunting Evolution
Q: How do you approach learning a new unit?
I combine pre-season scout trips with selective out-of-season observation, then commit to the unit with hands-on time, knowing that water sources and terrain shape deer and elk movements.
Tony Trietch on Big Mule Deer, Desert Bulls & Western Hunting Evolution
Q: You've had a lot of success in the West, is this a product of planning or serendipity?
It was intentional and gradual—starting with early scouting, building time in the units, and refining strategies over years, which allowed me to become more efficient and lethal as I gained experience.
All About Pronghorn & Hunting Big Ones with Chance Marshall
Q: What archery strategies are effective for big pronghorns?
Water blinds are effective for stocking big bucks, using terrain to stay out of sight, and being prepared to wait through long sits; spotting and stalking remains viable, especially early in the season when bucks are more patternable.
All About Pronghorn & Hunting Big Ones with Chance Marshall
Q: How should new hunters approach judging pronghorn horn size?
Rely on a combination of mass measurements, prong length, and relative proportions; mass tends to drive most of the score, prongs should extend beyond the ears, and a good side view helps estimate overall length and frame.
All About Pronghorn & Hunting Big Ones with Chance Marshall
Q: What makes Wyoming a strong place for hunting big pronghorns?
Wyoming offers abundant antelope with a mix of public and private land, good desert habitat, and substantial opportunities to hunt most of the season, especially in units with resident populations and long-term buck hotspots that you can scout and return to across years.
