《大寶積經》上有這樣一段記載：佛陀在因地修行的時候，為了救五百個人而殺了一個人，這樣的做法合乎道德嗎？ 佛陀正是抱著這種「我不入地獄，誰入地獄」的悲心，而殺一救百，所以在大乘的戒律中是讚歎他的行為。 我們在修行菩薩道時，除了動機要純正，抱持大慈悲心之外，還要具備心甘情願接受因果制裁的膽識，因為有所造作，必有報應。

攝心為戒』，『因戒生定』，『因定發慧』，戒、定、慧三者具備，不但不再漏落於欲界、色界、無色界，也不會漏落於空、有二邊，這就是達成無漏果位的三無漏學。
在經歷了多生累劫輪迴的過程中，早已沾染了許許多多的習氣與業力。故把我們「本自具足」、「本不生滅」、「本自清淨」、「本無動搖」、「能生萬法」的自性光明都遮蔽了，因此藉由修學戒、定、慧的方式，來明心見性。
故佛經才說「由戒生定」我們能心如止水時，則波浪不生，大乘起信論將浪視為無明煩惱。所以狂心頓歇，歇即菩提。

「欲漏」是欲界的五欲或貪欲的心。欲漏如毒藥，人身如器，不先除五欲之毒，器中雖裝甘露，也會帶毒。
眾生迷本聞。循聲故流轉 阿難縱強記。不免落邪思。豈非隨所淪 旋流獲無妄。
佛法就是教我們聽自性、聞自性，不是不聽聲音，而是在聽的同時，要聽它的自性。
阿難尊者僅是多聞強記，不免執指迷月，執佛語為自性，這豈不是隨著他的迷執而淪為流轉業呢？假如能夠學到反聞諸法自性是空性的話，豈不就能將流轉旋轉過來，而成為無妄的真實見！
