Enjoying so far; but a times the wife’s complaining or lack of understanding of nuance is a tad bit irritating.

I’m enjoying listening to both hosts, who are fans of the show. They’re engaging and willing to share their observations. Friendly note: “Rumours with a ‘u’” actually applies to both the British and American spellings. But the Brits use two of them. 😄

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Beyond Bridgerton: The Real Lives of Upper Class Women in the Regency Era
Q: Could you talk a little bit more about kind of restrictions on women at the time and have you seen any historical accounts of women leading more independent lives or say being involved with the running of an estate during the 18th century?
There are examples of women living more independent lives... all of the women I've written about in my books were involved in the running of an estate.
Beyond Bridgerton: The Real Lives of Upper Class Women in the Regency Era
Q: So could you kind of give us a bit of insight into how women's lives would have been different depending on their marital status?
Being a widow in Regency Britain was the one time when a woman could truly be independent without having to rely on somebody else.
Beyond Bridgerton: The Real Lives of Upper Class Women in the Regency Era
Q: What made you interested in researching women and the country house?
I was doing an internship at a very small country house in Northampton called Lamport Hall. I found that whilst male portraits came with lots of detail, a lot of female portraits or very often their portraits were unknown woman and I became intrigued as to why women's stories were being lost.
Beyond Bridgerton: The Real Lives of Upper Class Women in the Regency Era
Q: What would you say has been your favourite Bridgerton season or which season are you mostly kind of looking forward to seeing in the future in terms of like pairings and characters with the focus on them?
My favourite season is a little bit of a cheat season actually, because I think my favourite was Queen Charlotte just because it looked at some of the older experiences or the experiences of the older women in the seasons.
REUPLOADED (better audio) Beyond Bridgerton: The Duke of Hastings and the Reality of Disability History
Q: How did wealthy families respond to disabilities in their lineage?
Dr. Chadwick explains that wealthy families often faced societal guilt regarding passing on perceived genetic inadequacies, leading to attempts to hide or correct disabilities.
