  • Discussions

I started listening to this and Red Rocks’ sermons after hearing one of you on That Sounds Fun with Annie F Downs. I absolutely love and appreciate the example you provide in discussing ‘disagreements’. The respectful reply of “I’m not sure I fully agree” with a responding “I’d love to hear more about that and your thoughts “ can change so many conversations in the best way. I pray more people begin approaching life like this. Thank you!

  • Perfect Balance of Hilarious and Inspiring

I attend Red Rocks Austin and this podcast is the perfect thing to listen to during the week to laugh and be reminded of the truth that is so easy to forget as soon as you walk out of church on the weekend.

I feel like I have learned so much more about the hearts of the Red Rocks Austin Staff and have enjoyed the added bonus of hearing about every embarrassing thing Ethan, Doug or Ryan has done recently.

Afterthoughts Podcast | What’s Worth Dividing Over? - Ep. 121
Q: What role should online criticism play in our ministry long-term?
Online criticism should be weighed against its fruit. If it unhelpfully stirs dissension or harms real ministry and relational equity, redirect focus toward pastoral care and real-life discipleship rather than chasing online validation or clicks; prioritize building the church over public battles online.

Q: How should we respond to criticism without feeding the division?
Distill the criticism by identifying the source, reception, posture, and response. Engage with humility and gentleness, seek understanding, acknowledge when you're wrong, and avoid reacting defensively or publicly shaming others; if needed, respond with a constructive, in-person conversation.
