A little podcast that loves big books. You don't need to have read with us to enjoy the show as we always do a synopsis of the work as well as dive into the life and times of the author behind it. Our conversations vary and roam, but we always have a good time asking if each book we cover should be included in "the canon" of important novels. Our show icon is by Jeremy Kanne at Smart Yeti.

Change the horrible opening music!
Overdue meets Stuff You Should Know. Michael Hobbes and Sarah Marshall for literary fiction lovers. Articulate hosts with pleasant banter and the research to back up their episodes, especially the medical angle from the physician host.
I enjoy the heck out of this podcast! I first started listening to episodes of books I had already known and then I expanded into books I did NOT know. It felt like a bit of leap of faith, but it was well rewarded. The hosts describe the plot for each book at the beginning to give an overview of each book and that’s really all you need. The real enjoyment comes from learning the context around the book - either the author, or more about the time and culture or the era that made this book a class... more
