  • A MUST-LISTEN for nursing students

Short episodes that contain a wealth of information. Easy to understand, great audio quality. Dr. Morgan has a perfect podcast voice also. This is my go-to for studying on the run.

  • Nerdy Teen Girl Approved

I'm gonna be honest, I am not a nursing student whatsoever. I'm literally just a nerdy teenager who loves all things medical and wants to be a nurse when I grow up. But I really love this podcast! If a thirteen year old with the slowest processing on earth can easily understand and follow along with these topics that I pretty much know nothing about, then I'm sure a nursing student could too. Also, my friend (another nerdy medical obsessed teen) listens to this podcast as well. We like to listen... more

  • Amazing podcast!

Thank you for making this podcast!! I am a nursing student in an accelerated program and this podcast has saved me during tests. I love that the podcast simplifies each topic and focuses on nursing priority interventions along with NCLEX style questions at the end with a breakdown of each answer. I look forward to every new episode!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP 111 –Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
Q: Which action should the nurse take first when NMS is suspected in a patient recently started on haloperidol?
Hold the antipsychotic, notify the provider immediately, and prepare for emergency treatment; this is an emergency and requires rapid escalation rather than waiting or only treating agitation.
EP 110 Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)
Q: A nurse is assessing a client who started trimethoprine sulfamethoxazole three days ago and now reports flu-like symptoms, a painful spreading rash, and sores in the mouth.
Stop the antibiotic and notify the health care provider immediately.
EP 108 – Rheumatoid arthritis vs. Osteoarthritis
Q: Which finding is most consistent with rheumatoid arthritis based on the assessment options?
Option C is correct because symmetric joint involvement with warmth and prolonged morning stiffness indicates an inflammatory autoimmune process typical of RA, unlike OA.
EP 103 – Types of Anemia
Q: We have a nurse reviewing the charts of four clients with anemia. Which assessment finding is most consistent with vitamin B12 or pernicious anemia?
The correct finding is numbness and tingling in the hands and feet with a smooth, beefy red tongue, reflecting macrocytic RBCs and neuro symptoms from B12 deficiency.
EP 85 - Stroke
Q: What's your first priority in managing a stroke patient?
Follow ABCs and assess airway, breathing, and circulation, ensuring the patient can protect their airway.
