  • Great PH Resource

This podcast series is so good for anyone who has an interest in public health and wants to gain a better understanding of what public health entails. I’m wrapping up my public health degree and have turned to this podcast for some great resources. And big bonus that this is a Canadian-based platform.

  • Great podcast

Love the content and layout of the podcast! Always super interesting topics.

Only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the continuous music in the background while talking. I find it distracting from the content at times.

Love the diversity from the regular speakers. It’s a rare occurrence to have a podcast with so many different perspectives in each episode. I have never heard a podcast have 7 people on it. They pulled it off well.

Why Snakebite Envenoming Is (Still) A Public Health Issue
Q: Is there a world where it is possible to have more of a universal antivenom? Is that theoretically possible and practically possible?
A universal antivenom is the holy grail; while research is progressing, current antivenoms are tailored to patterns of venom from specific snakes, and achieving broad universal coverage remains challenging due to venom diversity and immunogenic differences.
Why Snakebite Envenoming Is (Still) A Public Health Issue
Q: Take me through that whole journey. And then along their points of failure, I'm sure one being, is there a transport we can get into? Does the community health center hospital have the antivenoms?
The path from bite to care is fraught with bottlenecks: getting timely transport, reaching a facility stocked with appropriate antivenom, and ensuring the right type and quality of antivenom are available at the point of care.
Jumping From Health Systems Transformation to Public Health Consulting
Q: What drew you to public health and epidemiology, and how did your MPH practicum experiences shape your career direction?
The MPH practicum experiences, especially at Public Health Ontario and Health Commons Solutions Lab, fortified my core epidemiology skills while letting me explore population health, data analysis, and community engagement, which naturally led me toward project management and eventually consulting.
Jumping From Health Systems Transformation to Public Health Consulting
Q: When you were in high school and thinking about your future, how did you imagine your career would unfold?
I anticipated a health-related path, considered medical school as a possibility, but kept options open and pursued a broad health studies degree to build a strong science background with social science and policy context.
Flint Is (Re)Writing Its Own Story & You Should Pay Attention
Q: What were the key factors that made Rx Kids successful in Flint, and how did the surrounding policy environment respond?
Rx Kids worked by addressing real, day-to-day needs and leveraging community infrastructure, while some lawmakers from both parties supported it; the conversation highlights the gap between policy promises and practical access to aid.
