  • Very Informative!

I’m a chiropractor and I’m currently taking Dr. Silverman’s Functional Nutrition course. I’m learning so much and I am very much looking forward to the rest of it as well as applying my new knowledge into my practice! Can’t wait to read his book too!

  • Accessible and valuable

This podcast is aimed at a broader audience, in contrast to some lengthy, detailed health / fitness podcasts, such as Huberman, Attia, and others. I highly recommend this for people with less experience and knowledge alongside motivation and interest to improve their health through exercise. Dr. Rob brings on the right guests and asks the right questions, and episodes are thankfully under an hour!

  • The best health advice I’ve encountered!

Get ready to take notes! Dr Silverman has provided insight on issues I’ve dealt with for years and a few natural switches he suggested has led to substantial improvement in hormone management.

Labs in Precision Medicine: An N-of-1 Framework
Q: What are your thoughts on testosterone testing and TRT in aging men?
Total testosterone is the starting point; free testosterone is useful if the total doesn't explain symptoms. The optimal ratio tends to be around 1-1.5% free to total, but decisions should be guided by symptoms and broader health context rather than a single number.
Labs in Precision Medicine: An N-of-1 Framework
Q: Which baseline tests do you consider essential before advancing to more specialized markers?
Start with CBC, CMP, and a basic lipid panel, then inflammatory markers like homocysteine and HS-CRP; consider sex hormones and thyroid tests as clinically indicated, and reserve more specialized tests for when there is a clear clinical question or pretest probability.
Labs in Precision Medicine: An N-of-1 Framework
Q: How did you conceptualize the N equals One framework and what does it mean for patient care?
It's a model that applies large datasets to individuals by starting from the person, then seeing how they fit within the data landscape, rather than forcing the patient to fit the data. The goal is to tailor interpretation and intervention based on the person's unique bioprofile and history.
Beyond Biohacking: The Real Science of Longevity
Q: What is the most important lab marker physicians ignore too often?
Insulin (and by extension insulin resistance), with HOMA-IR as a predictive tool, should be evaluated alongside fasting glucose and A1C to truly gauge metabolic health and diabetes risk.
Beyond Biohacking: The Real Science of Longevity
Q: What's one myth in functional medicine and functional nutrition you would love to debunk?
Focus on fundamentals and stop chasing every shiny object; root causes and systemic physiology should guide practice rather than chasing the latest gadget or modality.
