A speaker here says this John Carpenter film is full of “creepiness” and “dread.” That’s not the word salad of a script I was watching. The characters are all either inconsistent or totally disinterested. The bugs go nowhere as a theme, the homeless go nowhere as a theme, the card tricks go nowhere, Walter literally goes nowhere, the pretentious sophomoric science babble is dull, and so on. I will admit that the main character is a creep and his uneven mustache is dreadful.
Amazing podcast with two knowledgeable and extremely likeable hosts, who have excellent chemistry...
I’ve enjoyed the depth of the discussions and the hosts are very good. Humor and analysis is top notch. They’re fans - but not fanboys. They’re critical when it’s due, and gushing when it’s been earned. Highly recommend if you want to gain a greater appreciation of Carpenter’s films.
Just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying your podcasts guys.
Thoroughly good listen.

Love your takes on the films. After hearing the Big Trouble episode, your homework is definitely Buckaroo Bonzai. Peter Weller and John Lithgow in a bananas movie
