  • This show ruined itself

This show started out great, and unfortunately raced right to the bottom.

Based on a transcript, this podcast sells cohost slots to turn episodes into advertisements. Without disclosing that upfront. Not ethical for a newscast.

Wow. What did fiction podcasts do to Cridland? Whatever it is, it has ruined his objectivity. His grudges have slipped out of his control.

Unfortunately, if I want to know what’s actually going on in podcasting I need to look it up elsewhere … Cridland and Sethi are... more

Wow. What did fiction podcasts do to Cridland? Whatever it is, it has ruined his objectivity. His grudges have slipped out of his control.

Q: What does the latest YouGov data say about podcast ads and listener behavior?
It shows that about half of American podcast listeners usually skip ads, but a sizable portion still acts on the ads they hear, suggesting ads do work when delivered effectively. The data also implies a need to rethink measurement and ad formats.
Captivate's monetisation in the US; and the BBC gets more involved in Crossed Wires
Q: Is podcast advertising broken, and can attribution be improved?
The hosts argue that while there are definitional issues around what counts as a podcast and how to measure it, there is significant opportunity to improve attribution and demonstrate real value to advertisers through better metrics and shared data, especially with new measurement initiatives.
How podcast advertisers know more about you; and Dolby Atmos comes for podcasting
Q: How does consumer opt-out work in this identity-driven approach?
Users can opt out via device-level privacy controls and ad exchanges; opt-out is generally not podcast-specific, and the goal is to prevent passing persistent IDs while still allowing broader platform privacy options.

Q: What is PodIQ and how does it work in practice for advertisers?
