Great podcast. For the non-pods like me who are allied health clinicians, just ‘Autotune’ “Podiatry” for your profession and you’ll get a lot of useful information for marketing your practice.

  • Highlighting passion within the Podiatry profession

This podcast changed my mindset, my practice, and how I approach clinic everyday. As a solo practitioner, podiatry can be really isolating, and it’s difficult to find help and guidance. The calibre of guests, the topics, the ideas for employed practitioners and business owners alike is astounding. So many ideas that can be applied to your practice, there is something for everyone here. I highly recommend this podcast!

375 - Shockwave Therapy Secrets: What Most Podiatrists Are Missing with James Ferrie
Q: What role does mentorship and collaboration play in mastering shockwave therapy?
Mentorship and peer discussions help clinicians observe consults, learn how to structure a visit, and exchange tips; a collaborative local network reduces isolation, improves decision-making, and accelerates adoption of effective practices.
375 - Shockwave Therapy Secrets: What Most Podiatrists Are Missing with James Ferrie
Q: How do you determine the right dose and number of sessions for a patient?
I tailor the total energy delivered over the course of treatment, aiming for a cumulative dose in a range (roughly 700–1200 millijoules) for degenerative plantar fascia, adjusting per patient tolerance and response, sometimes needing more sessions for those with lower thresholds.
375 - Shockwave Therapy Secrets: What Most Podiatrists Are Missing with James Ferrie
Q: First, can you summarize the practical differences between radial and focused shockwave?
Radial shockwave delivers energy starting at the skin and diminishing with depth, great for superficial tendinopathy; focused shockwave concentrates energy on a precise depth, enabling deeper targets with a defined focal zone, and is often used when treating deeper tissues or non-union issues.
378 - Neuropathy, Cancer and A Career Pivot: The Dana Cardinas Story
Q: What initially drew you to podiatry, and what kept you there for so long?
Dana describes a lifelong interest in medicine, the hands-on satisfaction of solving problems in patients' lives, and the supportive culture of the podiatry practice she joined, which reinforced the appeal of the field as a combination of clinical craft and patient impact.
422 - Communicate Better with Patients Using Hypnotic Language Patterns with Dave Frees
Q: What is the practical way to introduce a complex treatment plan?
Lead with a positive pattern like 'one of the things you'll love about this recovery process is...' to set expectations and create buy-in before detailing steps.
