  • Amazing pod cast

I am a geologist and I have binge listened to this podcast because Chris and Jesse have the ability to talk to the geologist as well as to the person that has very little knowledge of geology. This is something I will recommend to any one curious about how our planet works.

  • The only geology podcast for me. This duo is great at taking you from a little understanding to a lot over the course of an episode or three. Guest interviews are one of the many highlights of this show for both the content of the conversations and the esteem of the guests.

  • Biogeology

I love your podcast! It is the right amount of interaction, humor, and the best part is all the science. Several times you have noted combining biology and geology, and that reminds me of my favorite undergrad course: Pleistocene Biogeology taught by a geology professor and a botany professor in the early 1970s. It really spoke to me of the interconnectedness of earth and sparked my career as a naturalist for Ohio State Parks. I look forward to every episode…

  • Stop talking over each other especially one of you.

One of you acts like a petulant little child when you wanna talk by cutting the other person off, then have the audacity to then condescend them at the same time. Truly remarkable. The best geology podcast that I know of, but I have stopped listening several times after the constant talking over each other.

The Moon-Forming Impact - Q&A with Dr. Rachel Phillips aka GeoGirl
Q: Could the Moon-Forming Impact have sparked life on Earth?
Unlikely; it probably sterilized the planet initially but set the stage for maintainable conditions for life.
The Moon-Forming Impact - Q&A with Dr. Rachel Phillips aka GeoGirl
Q: Is there evidence for other collisions on early Earth?
Yes, but very little information persists from early Earth impacts due to the resetting from plate tectonics; the Moon provides crucial records for impact history.
The Moon-Forming Impact - Q&A with Dr. Rachel Phillips aka GeoGirl
Q: Did the Moon-Forming Impact cause plate tectonics?
No, the impact did not kickstart plate tectonics, although it's a compelling question considering the similarities between Earth and Venus.
Whence Plate Tectonics? Q&A with Dr. Rachel Phillips aka GeoGirl
Q: What is the difference between a craton and a continent?
Cratons are stable, ancient cores that can be billions of years old, whereas continents consist of several cratons and are thicker, typically above sea level.
Whence Plate Tectonics? Q&A with Dr. Rachel Phillips aka GeoGirl
Q: What defines the age of the Earth?
The age of 4.5682 billion years indicates the formation time of the first solids in the solar system, not the formation of the Earth itself.
