The client decided to go a different route and canceled the request. The sitter reached out to the group. Several people commented to charge for meet and greets. I made my own comment in ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

703: Cat Sitting Roundtable: A Maturing Industry
Q: How are pricing and operations adapting to higher-touch cat care?
Owners are adopting outcome-based pricing, consolidating fewer, but longer or more valuable visits, and building team structures with specialized roles to handle complex cases while maintaining profitability.
703: Cat Sitting Roundtable: A Maturing Industry
Q: Why is the cat-only niche growing now, and is it a fad or a structural shift?
The guests agree it's a structural shift driven by education, changing pet ownership dynamics, and a demand for specialized care and enrichment that goes beyond traditional pet sitting.
701: Leaving False Happiness Behind with Shaheen Riaz
Q: What strategies helped you attract clients when you went full-time?
A mix of local advertising, leaflets, word-of-mouth, social groups, and a strong onboarding process; plus a calendar and website to provide transparency and ease for clients.
701: Leaving False Happiness Behind with Shaheen Riaz
Q: What was it like to leave a stable, well-paid career to pursue dog care full-time?
It was terrifying but ultimately freeing; the decision came from recognizing false happiness in her previous role and choosing a path that aligned with her values and purpose, supported by building client trust and a sustainable workflow.
695: Building a Cat-Only Business That Scales with Grace Taylor
Q: How does the business justify higher pricing in a niche market?
By proving the value of high-touch, expert-backed care that improves the cat's life, reducing fear-based pricing, and leveraging the founder's hub role to connect clients with trusted resources, which together justify premium pricing.
