  • Archaeology is awesome

    Andy, Kristi, Chris,

Immense thanks for the latest episode 58 - the blend of passion, precision and applicability in what you spoke about archaeology, has inspired me and brought me joy. I wholeheartedly agree that when we find ourselves completely devoted to something, we find it incredibly easy to speak about it in any context, and it becomes much more likely that others will be intrigued.

I’m convicted anew to share my faith; to be content with seeing curiosity before me and not necessarily... more

  • Great Podcast

Very practical. A great musical intro, which is key for any mediocre podcast. But this podcast is better than mediocre. I really like the emphasis on basics of both what are we about and how do you actually talk to people. Both of which can be easily overlooked.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Global Great Commission (with Matthew Niermann)
Q: What are some of the major findings and shifts since the last report in 2010?
Key shifts include radical demographic changes, aging populations, urban and digital transformations, and a polycentric Christianity where leadership and influence extend beyond traditional church structures.
The Global Great Commission (with Matthew Niermann)
Q: Why did you set about doing this major piece of research and what does it bring to the church?
The report is a landmark, aiming to assess where the church stands globally, with the goal of informing and accelerating practical mission across contexts by identifying gaps and opportunities for engagement.
Journeys to Finding Jesus (with Phil Knox)
Q: What practical steps can churches take to connect compassion ministries with evangelism?
Churches should ensure compassion efforts (food banks, toddler groups, street patrols) are tightly linked with inviting people to engage with Christian Explored or Alpha programs, training ordinary Christians to have meaningful conversations, and cultivating authentic relationships that naturally lead to gospel conversations.
Journeys to Finding Jesus (with Phil Knox)
Q: What triggers people to begin exploring the Christian faith according to the findings?
The top triggers include needing help with life, seeking meaning, and having painful experiences, with faith communities and Christians' actions often prompting exploration; the data also shows spiritual experiences as a continuing theme throughout the journey toward faith.
Journeys to Finding Jesus (with Phil Knox)
Q: What's your take on the so-called quiet revival?
The speakers describe multiple data points across several studies, noting that while the revival may not be dramatic or uniform, there are tangible markers like increased Bible engagement, church attendance, and many adults recounting stories of faith; the takeaway is cautious optimism about a broader movement rather than a single overwhelming event.
