I’m listening to the San Andrés episode—the host keeps calling it San Andreas as in the famous fault. You’d think with a show dealing with gringos bastardizing indigenous culture, a host could drill and pronounce the names more accurately
The show on Petra took the view that local people have the right to live and work in the world heritage site of Petra. They did not get the opinion of UNESCO or the Jordanian government. Shocking journalism under the pretence of responsible tourism.
I really wanted to like this show, I love to travel and liked the concept. However almost all episodes were so one sided against travel. It really should show both sides to be a news show and would show that it’s purpose was not just to show the negatives.
Thank you for investigating the full impact of tourism on communities around the world. The podcast keeps me engaged and curious as it’s not obvious what Peak Travel will reveal next.
