Mange kender nok til Slaget på Reden, der udspillede sig i 1801, men færre kender nok til Hans Jonathan fra de Vestindiske øer, som deltog i slaget. Hans begivenhedsrige liv bliver kort gengivet i seriens sidste afsnit.
I dette afsnit er omdrejningspunktet to af Frederiksstadens mondæne palæer, der har huset personer, som har spillet væsentlige roller i dansk koloni-historie.
I dagbladet Politikens spæde år, rejste journalisten Henrik Cavling til de Vestindiske øer. Med hjem havde han en række historier om øerne, men han havde også den unge Sebastian Marwick, en sort dreng, som fik sin gang i Politikens hus.
