Overall very good and helpful content especially for those early in recovery or the discovery process. Really validates the betrayed partner.

It loses stars because Tami often comes off very scattered; not finishing sentences or thoughts before starting another one and it’s hard to listen to. Additionally, she mostly piggy backs off of what Dr. Rob says, not really adding much to the conversation. Which makes sense, since he is the mental health and addiction specialist of the two.

I enjoy listening to both of your podcast very much. I am a psychotherapist licensed in the state of Florida with many certifications in trauma, Anxiety etc. I also hold a Doctorate in Clinical Sexology. I took issue with the idea that only CSAT can help someone who has these sexual issues/betrayal trauma. I am an advanced clinician of many years. I want you to know it’s misinformation to tell someone only CSATS have access to tests. Also, it depends upon region as to who takes insurance. On the... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Men Struggle to Show Empathy
Q: How does one tell the difference between empathy and sympathy?
Empathy goes deeper than sympathy; it involves emotional connection rather than just feeling for someone.
Building Thriving Connection Post Betrayal
Q: Can my husband just do this work in his 12 step program and us reading?
While 12-step programs are beneficial for recovery, they lack focus on restoring intimacy and the relational damage caused by betrayal, so additional resources and support are recommended.
Building Thriving Connection Post Betrayal
Q: When does a couple in this pyramid start to feel like they're on the same team?
It starts when the betrayed partner recognizes that the betrayer gets it and is genuinely invested in trying to heal and understand the relational impact.
How Long Does Recovery Really Take?
Q: What's the difference between a sex addict and someone who uses sex as their primary method to regulate often dysregulated emotions?
Dr. Rob explains that there is no difference in his mind; both behaviors reflect a difficulty in stabilizing emotional systems and suggest a deeper emotional issue.
Betrayal Induced Existential Crisis
Q: How do I communicate my boundaries effectively?
Clear communication about one's needs and expectations while inviting the partner to collaborate can foster a healthier dialogue.
