I really like listening to your experiences as I have a 5-year old daughter with SM. I also like the involvement of the mother. I don’t give 5 stars because of all the laughing. I understand that you are looking back at things and from that perspective it migh seem „less serious”. But it’s really annoying to me at the moment, as I am really concerned that my child might not overcome it or we might not be able to help her.
My daughter has selective mutism. I am just now learning about it and come to realize now I also had it. I can relate to so many things you talk about and experience them with her. I’ve learned so much from you both. This has been an excellent resource while I wait to get her the care she needs as resources seem to be limited in my area. Thank you again!
My daughter who is 9 is still struggling with selective mutism and has done since she was 2/3. We live in NZ where there is very limited expert or experienced help or even knowledge on the subject. Your amazing Chelsea and a shining light for us :) It has helped me understand what is going on for her which has reduced some of my... more
I had never heard of SM until I heard Chelsea on Turn Autism Around and realized my daughter had it. Thanks to the information and advice I’ve gotten while listening to the podcast I’ve started therapy for my daughter (SM diagnosis was confirmed by therapist). She’s 12 which feels like we’re really behind the game but better late than never to work on these issues. We’ve even got a cotton ball jar going right now! Thank you Chelsea and now that I’ve caught up I’d love some new episodes! ❤️
I found this podcast from listening to Turning Autism Around. I was a Spec. Ed teacher for 10+ years and I currently work mainly with adults & teens with Autism, social anxiety plus other issues. I have gained valuable tips and information to help me assist my clients to gain confidence and more independence in social situations and overall daily life. Thank you, I love this podcast and shared it with my colleagues! Chelsea, you are doing a great service to many families, teachers, therapists, p... more
