  • Very Disappointed

Having finished 200 episodes of The Magnus Archives, I was very excited to try another program from Rusty Quill. Unfortunately there is nothing about this show that would suggest it's by the same people, because everything from the script to the voice acting to the direction they took with the premise is poorly executed. It's dull from the get-go and the voice actor is really more of a reader than an actor, and not a compelling one at that. Very sorry to see this in the Rusty Quill catalog.

  • I tried and couldn’t do it.

I know there’s a genuine effort made here and hard work put into this. I really wanted to like it. I love the concept and I’m very sad to say this but… This is sooooo boring! I’ve listened to the first two episodes and two that were the most recent at the time of writing this review and I can’t make it any further. I keep waiting for something to happen and so far, nothing has. I can’t confirm this (because if I continue listening, I will die of boredom) but I have a feeling It’s just a fantasy ... more

  • A few bad actors that ruin the whole thing

Most of the first season was awesome and I was hooked. When Monica showed up, I could only manage a couple more episodes. Flat and noticeable reading intonation. I listened to the recent S6 episode and found everything to be exactly the same. As other commenters have stated, doesn’t seem like they’ve improved. So sad cause it’s a lovely plot.

  • What is the Point of Reviews?

I feel like no podcast creator has ever read reviews and made changes based on what listeners prefer or would like to see. It feels like reviewers just scream into the void and never get heard. What a waste of time and space. I’ll repeat what everyone else has said - I wanted to like the show so SO badly but the voice acting is atrocious. I can get past a flat affect or bad delivery. What I cannot get past is the lip-smacking and general noises between every word. The main character’s voice trig... more
