Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars from 9 ratings
  • Love the show, hate the same 2 commercials every 5 minutes

Why does Apple have to ruin the show by airing the same 2 commercials every 5 minutes? You just start getting into the panels conversation and it gets sidetracked by something I will never buy. What a shame to ruin one of the best podcasts out there.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Open Bar #87 - Last Orders
Q: Do you think big-budget indie studios can overtake mainstream studios?
It could happen if they manage to attract both audiences and distributors with a compelling vision, but big budgets and platform reach still give mainstream studios a substantial advantage; success would hinge on creative excellence and effective distribution.
Drinker's VIP Lounge - Andy Weir
Q: What inspired the astrophage concept in Project Hail Mary?
Weir says the idea grew from a mix of concepts—mass-conversion fuel, amnesia on waking, an alien biology, and a first-contact element—pulled together from a mental scrapyard of ideas.
Drinker's VIP Lounge - Andy Weir
Q: Are you a planner or a pantser when you write?
Weir describes himself as mostly a planner, outlining four or five turning points before writing, then pantsing through the path to those points while keeping a firm end-goal in mind.
Open Bar #176 - Last Orders
Q: Drinker, do you think we're overdue for a good werewolf horror movie?
The hosts acknowledge interest in a modern, well-executed werewolf film and reference Dog Soldiers as a benchmark, suggesting a good werewolf entry could reinvigorate the subgenre if it captures atmosphere and practical effects well.
