  • Toxic Relationship

I listen to the podcast to stay up to date on current movies without being exposed to all that woke nonsense.

But what really bothers me is how Chris treats Alan. It sometimes feels like a narcissist abusing their partner in a toxic relationship.

  • Disney adults

These guys are Disney through and through. One has a kid and talks like it. Other guy is sober and talks like it. They are meh for guys in there 20’s and 30’s. There reviews are fine. It would be better if they talked like they were not talking to children and parents.

  • Thank goodness for you.

I was a slave to Filmcast for years. But the over wokeness was too much. Finding this podcast after hunting through many is a Godsend. Smart people, passionate and fair. All I wanted and exactly what I got. Then exceeded that. Thank you for being you.

  • Rants more than reviews

Not insightful. They don’t actually talk much about filmmaking, mostly talk about politics.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Mandalorian & Grogu + Ladies First + Spider-Noir + More Reviews
Q: What did you think about In The Grey and would you recommend it?
The film is not recommended; it overemphasizes plan-talk and visual exposition, making it feel like a six-hour movie compressed into 90 minutes. The strong cast is wasted by the structure; for some, it may work as a fast, stylish thriller, but overall it disappoints due to pacing and storytelling choices.
The Mandalorian & Grogu Reactions + Obsession + More Reviews
Q: Tell us about An Enemy Within and what makes it stand out for modern audiences?
The film centers on Caleb Wingate whose life is upended when an assassin forces him to consider murdering his father-in-law to save his bride, blending noir-esque thrills with a modern corporate backdrop. Kennedy emphasizes character-driven suspense, smart dialogue, and a stage-play-like dynamic that keeps the tension in intimate rooms while still delivering high-stakes consequences.
Animal Farm + The Devil Wears Prada 2 + More Reviews
Q: What did Owen Squire Smith say about funding Late Bloomer during production?
He explained that funding came from his own sacrifices, taking unrelated acting work to finance the project, and that he and his brother handled many roles themselves to keep it moving forward.
Hollywood on the Rocks: Actor Paul Walter Hauser
Q: How did the transitional era and period setting affect casting and design?
The team explains moving the setting to 1970 for creative freedom and to match contemporary audience tastes, with emphasis on authentic period costumes and era-appropriate visuals.
Hollywood on the Rocks: Actor Paul Walter Hauser
Q: What was it like to work with Crispin Glover?
Hauser describes Crispin as focused and riveting, noting that his on-set process was private and that rehearsal occurred without crew to allow space for exploration.
