I first saw and heard Mary Chapin at the 1991 CMA awards in Nashville. It was the year President George Bush attended. I had just been elected an International member of the Association and its meeting coincided with the awards ceremony. How lucky I was that evening In the mid 1970s when I walked into Food for Thought on DuPont Circle in Washington DC - and first heard Mary Chapin’s soothing voice and intelligent, heartfelt lyrics.
