I love mysteries and started listening. It turned out to be a RPG but don't let that stop you. It's a lot like listening to a mystery novel and boy does the unexpected happen. Very entertaining.
I just wanted to say, I'm so thankful to have another Hunter the Vigil podcast! Your groups dynamics is treat to listen to, and the trouble they have been getting into is hilarious. I really enjoyed the hell out of the near TPK that happened with the Spider Queen. Keep up the good work!
A fantastic podcast with an excellant cast of characters and a wonderfully plotted story with twist and turns in almost every episode. I suggest starting with the first episode so as to not get lost; but if you want to jump around a little, I would go with either the Best Game Every episode or The Plumber's Affections. Both are in the middle of story arcs but the first will have you laughing even if you don't know what's going on and the second has the chips hitting the fan as you see how advent... more
I've been listening to actual play podcasts for a few years now, but I just recently found the time to try this one (I normally listen to a back catalogue of episodes of shows so it takes awhile.) I'll be honest, there have only been one or two I would recomend to my friends since I started. SSM is the newest addition to that list. I love the show, the GM is incredible, the characters are deep, intriguing, and believable. 5 stars. Please keep this show going forever!
The game mechanics are not anything I am used to, but it is explained very well. The players interact well together and play their characters with compassion. It is almost like a bunch of my old friends. I really enjoy the steampunk setting. When the filler games are inserted I find that I enjoy them also. I started at the first episode and have listened to each one a few times. One of the only questions I have is this. Does Bert work? It seems like he is constantly GMing a game. I think I a... more
Damn you Harris!!
That phrase can be heard constantly ringing through my earbuds as yet another great episode of this podcast is obtained through the airwaves.
I can only admire the dedication of this crew as the story plugs on, through the ravages of constantine, to the madness of power armoured apes. May the crew continue to provide excellent listening pleasure for all those who are not privleged enough to live in Metapol.
Good stories from the beginning to present! Excellent gaming if you like listening to actual play sessions or just like hearing stories or audio books this is somthing to listen to!
The only negative about this fun group is that they don't have more podcasts. More, please!
This is the best "Actual Play" (what the RPG community calls recorded gameplay) podcast I know of. It chronicles the adventures of a group of part-time crime-investigators in an alternative history British-colonial America, set around the 1800's with no united states or war for independence. Also, it's steampunk, but thankfully this is used playfully and isn't the focus of the story - it works well as a source of Pratchettian flair.
The cast of player characters is diverse and well portrayed wh... more
Lacks the egos and bad attitudes of lots of gamers online. These players seem like friends and genuinely good people who are both funny and skilled. While I suspect Airbauer will come out being the "standout", everyone here is fun to hear.
Of Steam, Steel and Murder is a Actual Play RPG mystery within a Steampunk setting. They use the FATE system which is very simple and they explain how the mechainics work during the early episodes. It is set in Meta-Pol(wink), an American city, during the 18XX. It is a world in which the guilds never lost their power after the Medieval Age. The people who serve in the guild(espically the higher ranking ones) are set apart from the rest of society and even have their own laws. Enter the PCs.... more
I really enjoy listening to this game! The story is good the characters interesting and the setting itself captivating. It is also a fairly good introduction to the FATErpg system which is loads of fun in and of itself.
I love the flow of this game and how well they play it, I only wish I could join them. The people they play are wonderfull, well thoughtout and just plain funny!
