箱根駅伝の5区山登りで「3代目山の神」として名をはせた神野大地さん。大学卒業後の競技人生は順風満帆ではありませんでした。実業団時代にはマラソンでなかなか結果を残すことが出来ず。プロ転向後に記録が向上するも、出場を狙ったパリ五輪選考会直前に左足の違和感が――。
2025年に「思ったように足を動かすことが出来ない」（神野さん）という難病ジストニアの手術に踏み切ったことを公表しました。それでも神野さんはまた走れるようになるという希望を捨てず、新たなチャレンジとともに前へ進みます。
